Sunday Scans:

The Cub Scouts had a fishing derby.
Son Chip didn't get the most fish, or even the most fish,
but the reporter or photographer thought Chip
was the personification of
Huck Finn.

The article and photo appeared in our local
newspaper.  (We had two then- The Muncie Star
and The Muncie Evening Press.)  Now we
have only one The Star Press.

That's a great memory to have, and he does look like how I imagine Huck Finn.

It's such a shame so many local newspapers have disappeared. the price we have to pay for our modern telecommunications, I suppose.

He's adorable! So what if he didn't catch the most fish ... he caught the eye of a photographer, and the heart of yours truly!!!

What fun!

You asked how I scanned a slide - my scanner has an attachment that allows me to scan up to four slides (or a strip of negatives) at a time. Basically it lights up from the top of the scanner instead of the bottom, and automatically creates a different JPG file for each slide in the attachment. Over a weekend or two I was able to scan over a thousand slides in this way, so now I've got them all on my netbook.

Stunning header, Norma and I have to agree he does have a Huck Finn way about him ;-)

I'm very impressed with your header.

I find it very hard to believe that The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn were first published in Britain in 1884 - 125 years ago! Mark Twain seems to have popped into my life a lot recently in many ways. Even indirectly in your post. Odd.

GB, I call that serendipitous.
Thanks, everyone for your kind comments about my new header. I just discovered recently that I could use my own photo for it. I'm pleased with it.

I agree with everyone else's comments about your stunning header, it's beautiful - I love those vibrant colours. And your sweet Chip looks just like HF.
