I was concentrating so much on the lighting that I failed to notice Max's passing by at the opportune time. 

I call the color of Jeremy's appliances candy apple red; I have no idea what the company calls it.  I was surprised that Jeremy would like such a bold color in his kitchen.  I love it!  Now, if only cobalt blue would emerge as a possibility in the color range of small appliances.

This is a combo of coffee maker, toaster oven and grill. The vintage looking straw holder was gifted to Jeremy by me.  I have a small collection of Coca-Cola items, but I thought that Jeremy would get more actual use of it.  He'd had his straws in a plastic tumbler.  Something finer was needed.

Son Jeremy installed lightweight ceiling tiles that are fashioned like vintage tin tiles.  His home is 100 years old and this choice suits it.

The cover has been put on the outlet, but I've neglected to capture it.   I love the pairing of the stone on the back splash with the marble on the counter tops.  Son saved money by purchasing tiles instead of a marble slab.  The veins in the marble go well with the cabinet stain.  That's another place Son saved tons of money; he bought unfinished cabinets from Cabinet Factories Outlet in Richmond, Indiana.  The drawers are dovetailed, a positive indication of being well-made, and seldom seen in big box stores.

I was photographing the plain overhead light, but I also captured the beautiful trim.  This was one of the pricier choices because it was a kit, but it was certainly worth the time it saved.  Plus it eliminated having to miter the trim,  which in the past has caused consternation because of mitering in the wrong direction. So the kit also is a bonus because there was no waste from mistakes.

Son's sister and her daughter aided him by painting the kitchen walls.  

See how gorgeous the cabinets are?  I thought that the kitchen would seem like a cave because of Son's choice of dark wood for the cabinets and the floor, but he has proved me so wrong!  I need to take photos of the new small appliances he's bought since finishing this project.  He bought what I call candy apple red for his microwave and toaster oven.

The house he bought is over 100 years old.  The kitchen had to be gutted, new electrical wiring and plumbing, insulation and, of course, wall board installed.  He even had to install floor boards where there had been water damage.  He also put in an all new sub-floor for new dark bamboo flooring he bought from Lumber Liquidators in Indy and will be laying later.  What a talented man he is!
