My Artist's Prayer
O Lord, the original and unique Creator,
I'm seated here in Your name,
That I may be enlightened
In order that I may be all that You mean for me to be.
I offer myself as a servant on Your path.
Please open my heart and mind
To Your generous creativity.
Help my heart, mind and soul to welcome
The Holy Spirit in all that create.
Help me to love others as You love me,
To nurture and hearten others in their growth,
To comprehend others' fears.
Help me remember that though I live alone,
I am never without You.
Help me to create as an act of worship to You.
Amen

What a wonderful prayer! Thank you for sharing such an intimate moment with all of us other artists!
although I follow and read your blog I don't often comment. I should because you are so generous with your comments. Today, however, you have moved me to comment. I lost my faith some years ago. Faith is something you either have or don't have. It can't be manufactured by logic. However that doesn't stop me appreciating the sincerity of your prayer. The words and sentiment are beautiful.
Beautiful. I enjoyed that book as well. My friend Jennifer (A Poem Life) told me about a great book that's similar called The Creative Call. At some point you might enjoy exploring it. Your prayer reminds me of the book.
Thanking for stopping by and saying sharing your story. Your prayer is lovely:)

Amy-thanks for the book reference. I'll look for it.
GB-thank you for your kind words. Many decades ago I went to a retreat and one of the important practices I came away with-tell people what you appreciate about right then. I've been known to tell strangers that the color of their shirt, purse, anything that I liked it. People usually smile when I tell them. So I'll comment if I moved by a photo or words. Thanks again for stopping by.
On my way to see your P64 Spring Green idea, I was sidetracked by this poem. Lovely words, and so very timely.
When I was a teenager I decided that flattery corrupts both the giver and receiver and I've lived by that rule ever since. Compliments, on the other hand, are one of the most positive of life's tools. Like you I try and compliment people and sometimes it can be quite random and the effect can be quite unexpected. I particularly love complimenting people who have beautiful smiles.
