A Photo a Day: My Daily Sustenance, Day 81

I think that this stunning pink blossomed tree is a magnolia tree, but I'm not dead sure.  What a lovely setting to behold.  The huge manse in the background has an interesting history.  It was once the home of a wealthy family named Kitselman.  St. Mary Church purchased the land, which included this beautiful home, in 1930.  The use of it later was to house the Sisters of Notre Dame who taught here for a number of years.  The other lay teachers and I were lucky enough to be invited by the sisters into their home at Christmas time.   The home is now for retired parish priests and bears the name of a former bishop of Lafayette-in-Indiana Diocese, Bishop Gallagher.
Just imagine the pleasure I had when I'd take my first graders on science walks through this lovely campus.

I think that the tree may be a Jacoranda. The drive between The Cottage and The House has them. The Magnolia tree's flower is very large and there are less of them. I'm making the assumption here that with trees we call them the same thing in both countries. It's an absolutely beautiful tree anyway.

Thanks, Graham, for the enlightenment. I appreciate learning something new.
