Tonight the Easter Vigil will begin with lighting the Easter fire outdoors. The ceremony will involve the Paschal candle being inscribed and lit from the fire. Then that candle will light candles being held by the parishioners. From there, those with a lit candle will light others until we all have our "light of Christ" and proceed into the church. No electric lights will glow. There will be only the light from our Lord. That rite never fails in warming me, no matter the ambient temperature. I am thrilled with the knowledge that Christ died and rose for me, a sinner. I wish all a blessed Easter. |
