This is the outer room of the library branch where I normally go; it's the Maring-Hunt Public Library. The next area is where one goes to borrow books, videos etc. The hyphenated name comes from two library branches which were closed some time ago. The main library was brought into fruition by an Andrew Carnegie endowment. I guess I need to go downtown and capture all of its beauty with my camera. That library is no longer used for lending books, but houses local history and the genealogy department of the library. When I was a high school senior, I spent a lot of time in the Carnegie Library researching for my term paper. As a matter of fact, in those years, it was our only library. |

It's sad to see branch libraries closing but at least this one still remains in use for a library purpose. And it does look pretty.
A lot of branch lbraries in Library were built using Carnegie endowments and are still in use. He did so much good with his money.
I love libraries ... and it's interesting how you took a pic of this library's charming feature.

very pretty...I hate hearing about libraries closing too...that is partly why I refuse to buy a Kindle or a Nook
Great photo! Keep on reading no matter your mode of visualization!
What a great benefactor Carnegie was. We used to have a girls school hostel here on Lewis names after his wife.
