Sunday Scans:

a heart-shaped photo of my late husband's father and step-mother
Their photo was framed in a white lattice framed also in the shape of a heart.  So far, I've not been able to find a heart-shaped frame.

Sunday Scans: Teddy Bear Tea

linking to Al's "Sunday Scans"
Pictured here are my granddaughter (7 at the time) and her good friend.  The tea was hosted by the ladies of Paws, Inc.  (Jim Davis' company, the well-known cartoonist of Garfield the cat.) It took place at the Horizon Convention Center.  You can see how beautiful it is by clicking on the link.  Its building includes our former US Post Office, which is on the far right of the Center.

Sunday Scans: World War II Sailor

This is my uncle John; he was in the Navy,
attached to the Marines.  This was during WWII.
He was 17 when he enlisted.  I think he
was so handsome!  Later, he was assigned to
a ship that picked up one of the space
shuttles; this was when they still landed in the ocean.

Sunday Scans: Grandpa Kern

My grandpa (Mom's dad) was in the
Coast Guard.  Anyone know what
this equipment is?
I never got to know him because he died
when Mom was 11 years old.

Sunday Scans: Hotel Taft in NYC

While in NYC for part of our
senior class trip, we stayed
at the Hotel Taft. The first leg of our
trip was Washington D.C.
This was in 1957!
I just looked on-line; it's still there!

Sunday Scans: Hubby in the 1950s

Charles and his sports car
when he was stationed in Turkey.
When he was coming stateside; the ship's crew
dropped his car.  Oops!  He traded it
for a 1957 black Chevy. :(
So, of course, I never got to ride
in that lovely car.

Sunday Scans: Class Reunion

My brother Charlie ready for his high school
class reunion.  The invite called for class members
to be dressed in 1950s garb.  Cool guy!

Sunday Scans:

The Cub Scouts had a fishing derby.
Son Chip didn't get the most fish, or even the most fish,
but the reporter or photographer thought Chip
was the personification of
Huck Finn.

The article and photo appeared in our local
newspaper.  (We had two then- The Muncie Star
and The Muncie Evening Press.)  Now we
have only one The Star Press.

Sunday Scans: My Grandmother

This is my dad's mother.  She died when Dad's youngest brother was only two years old.  So, of course, I never met her.  Her parents were English; my sister-in-law traced the family back to Stratford-upon-Avon.  She looks very regal, I think.

Sunday Scans: My Mama

I hadn't seen this photo of my mama till long after she'd died.  My sister-in-law, while doing the family tree, was given it from my mama.

Hooking Up with Sunday Scans

This is a photo of my husband and me as we exit the church.  I thought everyone had left to go to the reception destination while we had photos taken and signed the necessary papers.  Some didn't believe that I was surprised, but I definitely was!
