Finishing Touches of Master Bathroom Remodel

The final touches have been applied to my new master bathroom.
Here is the sorely needed storage.  Heretofore I stacked things upon things in my closet.  Anyone old enough to remember the old radio show called "Fibber McGee and Molly" know about his closet.  The same thing would happen to me- take down one thing and the rest of the pile came tumbling down.  No more, thanks to my son's ingenious idea of enclosing stock cabinets (purchased at Lowe's) to look like they are built-in and that they've always been there.  

Some readers might recognize the finger painting featured before on my blog; it was done by my granddaughter Charley when she was in kindergarten.  I've since framed it.  The frame's color matches the rose buds in my wallpaper.   There are pink roses in the border.  The sun was made by my middle son Derek some years ago.  I am blessed to have talented children and in-laws.

I love the rug I purchased for $7 at the local Dollar General store.  The color matches the leaves on the wallpaper.  I really love my floor; it's Roman Stone, also from Lowe's.

Pink on the mirror frames is just the right amount of pink.

I painted the new wall that hides the plumbing pink, but  it was too overwhelming.  Then I tried striping the wall with the cabinet color and pink.  Each time I pulled away the tape I also pulled away the color underneath.  After sanding the wall, I painted it beige.  Then I spent a few hours on-line seeking inspiration for the big blank wall.  I wanted some kind of floral decal.  When I was led to Wall Monkeys with my key words, I found something that said "tranquil" to me.  Above is the decal.  To me, it was a bit pricey, but I am well satisfied with it.

A Lovely Day

Christine called me on Tuesday to see if I wanted to ride with her to pick up Candice.  Her birthday was last week and her mom was cooking a belated birthday dinner for her.  I was thrilled to spend time with my oldest granddaughter and her loving mother Christine.  After we got there, Candice took us to see her flowers and vegetable garden.  Oh, glorious, an opportunity to take pictures!  I took close-ups of such lovely flowers.  I also got some shots of two of her three kitties, one of which (Biscuit) stayed with me earlier this year when Candice and Geoff were on vacation.  Biscuit is much bigger than when I last saw him.

Next on the agenda was lunch in Noblesville at a darling cafe called Rosie's.  They serve delicious food, have excellent service and have an ambience that I love because the exposed brick walls remind  me of my rural country kitchen.

These two flower shots above were taken in Candice's backyard.  I forgot to ask what the pink flower is; I was told that the rose was fragrant.  Blech, I couldn't smell it!

Candice edged the grasshopper onto a stick so  I could get a clearer shot.

While on the stick, she transported him to my deck table's umbrella pole.

Sunday Scans: Teddy Bear Tea

Pictured here are my granddaughter (7 at the time) and her good friend.  The tea was hosted by the ladies of Paws, Inc.  (Jim Davis' company, the well-known cartoonist of Garfield the cat.) It took place at the Horizon Convention Center.  You can see how beautiful it is by clicking on the link.  Its building includes our former US Post Office, which is on the far right of the Center.

Finger Painting by Granddaughter

I went back and forth, back and forth.  Now, before I change my mind again,  I'm choosing the soap dispenser. 
Although I love the color of indigo, it's definitely been an even harder color to discover.  What first seems to be that color turns out to have either too much on the blue side or too much on the purple side.  One thing Project 64 has done for me is to open my eyes to the innumerable colors we have in our wonderful world.
The argument I had with myself: So, which to choose?  Right now I'm leaning toward the finger painting done by my granddaughter when she was in kindergarten or 1st grade.  I neglected to date it.  Since I am a close friend of the other two primary teachers, I'm dead sure it was done in kindergarten.
